Head of New Business (Partnerships Development Lead)
Maternity Cover Reporting to: Head of High Value Fundraising Direct Reports: Up to 3 x direct reports 2 x National Business Development Fundraiser and 1 x Regional Partnerships Manager Location: London Hybrid (1-2 days per week in London office located in Farringdon). Please note
that due to the nature of the role travel will be required across the UK for pitches meetings and

As a member of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team within the Fundraising and Engagement directorate you will have a fundamental role in helping us to deliver on our promise to support young people and their families to deal with the effects of cancer both during and beyond treatment.
Job Summary
As the Head of New Business you will take the lead in delivering the New Business strategy which is focused on securing a diverse range of new partners who will raise significant income influence and awareness for Young Lives vs Cancer so we can be there for children young people and families when they need us. You will have experience and a proven track record of securing charity of the year commercial cause related marketing and strategic partnerships across a variety of sectors.
As a leader in a small but successful team you will have a high level of autonomy and will need to use your initiative and take a hands-on approach for developing and driving forward the new business pipeline with responsibility for an ambitious new business income target.
Main responsibilities
Oversee and drive the delivery of the new business strategy and budget.
Utilise internal and external networks across Young Lives vs Cancer to identify new partnership opportunities.
Develop and drive forward the new business pipeline of 6 and 7 figure partnerships with a diverse mix of charity of the year commercial and strategic opportunities.
Manage your own portfolio of prospects to secure partnerships that will deliver significant in-year and future year income.
Support the team to steward and cultivate relationships with organisations contacts and senior stakeholders on the corporate pipeline putting in place cultivation plans and involving senior colleagues where appropriate.
Work closely with other services and policy colleagues to identify new funding and strategic partnership opportunities.
Work collaboratively across other teams to produce deliver and execute successful high quality proposals pitches and vote strategies and materials.
Work closely with Regional team to explore local networks in order to grow the pipeline.
Work with colleagues across the wider Philanthropy and Partnerships team to launch new partnerships including contract writing setting KPIs and account management plans.
Work with colleagues across the team to identify opportunities for growth within the existing portfolio of corporate partnerships major donors events and trusts including partnerships extensions sponsorship of events major donor prospects and introductions to networks.
Monitor team KPIs and individuals KPIs and support the team to adapt and monitor their work and behaviours where required.
Develop inspire and manage direct reports and act as a coach or mentor for colleagues across the organisation.
Be up to date with key market trends partnerships activities and changes in the sector.
Key working relationships and contacts
Internal: Philanthropy & Partnerships Team (Corporate Philanthropy Trusts Philanthropy Events and Fundraising Development) other Income and Engagement teams as required including Support Engagement Individual Giving and Sports and Challenges Brand Marketing Media and PR Services Policy and Voice and Engagement Teams Senior management team Trustees and Volunteers.
External: Senior decision makers and CSR/ESG contacts at national organisations existing partners major donors and trusts committee members vice presidents and patrons families supported by Young Lives vs Cancer.

Requirements Essential Desirable
Educational / Professional Qualifications
This post requires experience rather than professional qualifications
Experience
Experience in new business fundraising where you have secured and delivered high 5 6 or 7 figure partnerships. Experience winning charity of the year commercial and strategic partnerships. Line management experience. Experience of delivering a strategy including KPI setting regular performance reviews and mitigation plans Experience of managing budgets including regular forecasting review and risk mitigation planning. Experience and proven creativity in developing bespoke and proactive partnership proposals beyond transactional corporate funding and charity of the year applications and bids. Experience of creating successful corporate pitch and staff vote strategies and materials.
Experience in project management reporting and analysing results. Experience of managing and cultivating relationships with high net worth individuals and committees.
Experience in working collaboratively across multiple teams to develop new funding bids proposals and pitches.
Skills/Abilities
Ability to identify prospective corporate partners needs and drivers and to match these with charitable priorities. Excellent communication skills both written and oral and the social skills and presence to communicate to a variety of audiences including at board level. Strong and confident presentation and pitching skills
Good influencing and negotiating skills with a proven ability to establish long-term working relationships.
Ability to think creatively and problem solve autonomously. Excellent interpersonal telephone and organisational skills Excellent internal networking skills and a commitment to collaboration
Technical skills
Good working knowledge of spreadsheet and database use Good IT And Microsoft Office skills
Experience using Canva.
Other Prepared to travel within the UK as required Ability to work out of hours and at weekends where needed
