Job Summary


The Director of Admissions is responsible for all on-sitenon-clinical needs related to processing new admissions. The Director of Admissions will developcommunications flow within the facility for admissions and census developmentwhile working closely with external marketing team and referral sources. The Director of Admissions will work inconjunction with the Director of Nurse Case Management to ensure appropriateresident placement and maintain budgeted census and case mix.

As the Director of Admissions you aredelegated the administrative authority responsibility and accountabilitynecessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Dutiesand Responsibilities

AdministrativeFunctions

Oversee theadmissions discharges and transfers of residents to ensure effective andefficient utilization of the facilitys beds; which entails tracking the flowof resident information and record keeping from beginning to end; ensure residentsscreening is done courteously and efficiently so that the resident gets to theunit expeditiously

Plan organizecoordinate and supervise office personnel activities to achieve the highestlevel of effectiveness in discharging the following primary functions:

Act as liaison withresident families and facility staff upon admission to the facility to ensuresmooth transition from the community or hospital setting.

Engage all necessarydisciplines to assure a fluid transition to the facility.

Convey the residentsinformation flow to the nursing and medical departments verify insuranceinformation.

Develop and maintaincontacts with discharge planners in the hospitals for potential admissions

Implement andsupervise admitting procedures as established by the Administrator andDepartment of Health regulations. Example: A priority admission schedule isdetermined on the basis of a review of PRI financial information andappropriate bed availability.

Design maintain andupdate the departments Policy and Procedure Manual to properly guide Admittingstaff

Establish andcoordinate with nursing and related departments the procedure for Advancenotice of admission and discharge to achieve maximum bed use

Ensure the accuratecompletion of all financial forms relating to the pre-admission and admittingprocedures

Coordinate thechanneling of accurate admitting information to the interactive matrixconnecting all Departments.

Responsible for dailyinteraction with internal and external customers. Maintain daily interactionwith residents and families.

Prepare and submitreports to Admission Committee on a monthly basis

Maintain an accurateand current system (wall manual bed board) showing all occupied beds andvacant beds. (The system should reflect anticipated discharges transfers bedterminations etc.)

Communicate withhospitals to determine discharge status of hospitalized residents

Obtain necessarydocuments from the hospitals regarding rehabilitation services IV informationetc. and disseminates to appropriate departments

Act as liaison withfacility Pharmacy to resolve issues with Part D resident drug plans regardingprior approvals and follow-up. Addressprior approvals as needed to submit to the proper drug plans for approval oradditional follow-up. Work collaboratively with the Department of Medicine toaddress the needs for pre-authorization for medications ordered. The need to submit paperwork for priorapprovals is orchestrated with the physician and the insurance companies viafax.

Followwork assignments and/or work schedules in completing and performing yourassigned tasks

Createand maintain an atmosphere of warmth personal interest and positive emphasisas well as a calm environment

StaffDevelopment

Attendand participate in scheduled training and educational classes. Attend andparticipate in scheduled orientation programs and activities

Attendand participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazardcommunication TB management and bloodborne pathogens standard

Safetyand Sanitation

Adhereto and implement all facility safety and infection control policies

ResidentRights

Maintain residents confidentiality; treat residentswith kindness dignity and respect. Know and comply with Residents Rightsrules.

WorkingConditions

  • Works in entrance area as well as throughout the facility and its premises
  • Moves intermittently during working hours
  • Subject to frequent interruptions
  • Subject to call back during emergency conditions etc. severe weather evacuation post-disaster
  • May be involved with residents family members personnel visitors government agencies/personnel etc. under all conditions/circumstances

Education

Mustpossess as a minimum a high school diploma or its equivalent

Experience

  • Experience with insurance verification and authorization processes preferred

Previousexperience in a Skilled Nursing Facility is preferred

Computer copy machine fax machine label maker Medicaidverification system

SpecificRequirements

Mustpossess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrantsuch action

Mustpossess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel residents familymembers visitors government agencies/personnel and the general public
