Student Profile Students in the STEP program are identified as students withDevelopmental Delay Intellectual Impairment Communication Autismor other complex learning needs. Students may have challenges in theiracademic language/communication social self-help and behavior skilldevelopment. All students require intensive highly specialized andindividualized instruction and support to access Description: STEP is a substantially separate program designed to support grade K-2 students with intensive special education needs. Studentsrequire a small group learning environment with a low student to staffratio. Students attend a full school day. This position requires assisting teachers in the classroom with a wide range of student need both academic and behavioral. The individual must have the ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student progress academically and provide individualized instruction. Teaching and Learning Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of special education and classroom teachers Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress Strong communication and interpersonal skills with staff and students Flexibility to adjust to different issues with students Ability to assist and help students with their academic and non-academic issues to enable them to fully participate in learning Assist students in developing appropriate social skills May require toileting
