Job Summary

The Governors of Dee Point Primary School wish to appoint a temporary full time or part time - dependant on the candidate 1-1 teaching assistant to join our hard working and passionate team as soon as possible until the end of the academic year with the view to extend. We are looking for a caring patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team as a 1:1 support for a Year 1 child with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference every single day.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Provide consistent individualised support to a Year 1 pupil to help them access learning
  • Build positive trusting relationships to support the childs emotional wellbeing
  • Use nurturing trauma-informed approaches to help the child manage emotions and behaviour
  • Work closely with the class teacher SENDCo and outside professionals
  • Support learning both in the classroom and during small group or individual tasks
  • Help create a calm safe and encouraging learning environment

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young children ideally within a school setting
  • Understands SEMH needs and is confident using de-escalation and regulation strategies
  • Is patient resilient and able to form positive relationships
  • Has excellent communication skills and can work well as part of a team
  • Is committed to helping all children succeed
  • Understands the importance of consistency boundaries and nurture
