Job Summary:

The Department of Pathology is seeking a Full time Molecular Pathologist Informaticist (1.0 FTE) at the rank of Assistant Professor to participate in the growing Pathology Informatics needs of the Department. The Molecular Pathology Informatician will collaborate with pathologists and staff at professional technical and administrative levels to provide informatics support for the molecular diagnostics and cytogenetics laboratories that are owned and operated by the University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Pathology as well as participate in the implementation and/or support of other information systems for anatomic pathology. This position is full time academic and requires on site work based at the Anschutz Medical Campus Aurora CO.

The Molecular Pathologist Informatician duties will include but are not limited to:

Provide leadership related to information systems in molecular pathology and cytogenetics in all phases of the information systems lifecycle including management change control evaluation and improvement of existing systems and selection and implementation of new systems.

Ensure that the molecular/cytogenetics laboratory information systems and information technology meet regulatory requirements of accrediting agencies affiliated hospital systems and the University of Colorado including security of software and hardware systems.

Apply data standards for storing laboratory and pathology information required by the College of American Pathologists and other regulatory and accrediting bodies

Collaborate closely with LIS IT laboratory integrated practice and departmental staff as well as departmental leadership and administration to ensure fidelity and security of data mining and analysis of data compliance and quality of data and departmental medical practice

Promote an environment of continuous improvement in laboratory information systems and information technology for the Department of Pathology CU Medicine the School of Medicine and affiliated hospital systems.

Serve as an attending pathologist in Molecular Pathology for review of run-level and case-level molecular data and individual case sign-out

Participate in the education of residents fellows and other learners in Molecular Pathology and Pathology Informatics

Participate in performance improvement activities quality control and proficiency testing; assist in maintaining compliance with CAP accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards.

Participate in applied research and development projects directed towards unique or improved laboratory tests and services

Engagement in translational and/or clinical research

Participate in departmental school and professional committees

Participate in clinical conferences as indicated

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)

  • Board certified in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology in addition to being Clinical Informatics board certified/board eligible or have completed a Pathology Informatics fellowship or have attained the equivalent experience to a fellowship in an academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year post-informatics fellowship practice experience is strongly desired. Additional fellowships in other areas of clinical or anatomic pathology in addition to informatics may be favored if a good fit for departmental clinical practice.

Additional undergraduate or graduate degrees or experience in computing big data analysis security management of IT staff and other related areas will be considered positively towards recruitment.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$210000 to $270000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
