Senior Mechanic (Internal Applicants Only)- Job Description



As a senior mechanic you will be instrumental in leading guiding mentoring training and the quality of everything you do in the scheme you are working in. You will be aware of what we do in all schemes our standards and the issues we are facing and will talk regularly with other senior mechanics and our centre of excellence.



Responsibilities

As a Senior Beryl Mechanic you will;

  • Prioritise personal and workshop health and safety flagging any concerns locally and speak directly to senior Beryl management if you have concerns that are not being addressed.
  • Lead the Mechanics team make them feel supported and motivated.
  • Liaise with Workshop and Operations Manager to make sure the team have everything they require to keep the maximum number of bikes live at any given time.
  • Remain up to date with all asset knowledge.
  • Triage vehicles as part of ensuring we can manage performance and balance work fairly across team members.
  • Carry out quality checks on work - this can vary according to specific scheme and training needs of team members.
  • Identify and ensure that issues are recorded and passed on both to local management and relevant departments.
  • Be proactive in helping develop new practices and improve beryl processes.
  • Ensure team members feel valued listened to when they have ideas that may improve our workshop mechanic processes etc.
  • Ensure urgent issues are always reported to your Workshop Lead so we can get the issue resolved as quickly as possible.
  • Support individuals with their training and coaching.
  • Ensure that all work is done to Beryl standards ensuring maintenance and vehicle builds provide safe vehicles to our Customers.
  • Ensure accurate records whilst completing vehicle builds and repairs in our App.
  • As required update our stock control systems to ensure records are up to date.
  • Help to support Beryls continual learning and improving by pointing out recurring issues with our vehicles.
  • Carry out some on-street redistribution and repair duties if required.
  • Be a team player working and helping your local and the wider Beryl team.



Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience of working in manufacturing mechanical and/or an engineering front line environment
  • A background in mechanical maintenance
  • Keen interest in bicycles
  • Full & clean driving licence -(Experienced and comfortable driving a medium-sized eVan).
  • Happy to work flexibly with rotational hours
  • Fluency and good communication skills

Please note this position is shift-based with the working week running Monday to Sunday.You will be required to work an average of 38.6 hours per week over the year period based on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern Monday to Sunday including a 60-minute paid break per day with a minimum of 10 hours per day between 7am and 8pm.
