KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Community Services Department is in search of a post-secondary student with strong leadership and coaching abilities coupled with a genuine passion for engaging with children. This role calls for someone who thrives on organization problem-solving and delivering top-notch customer service while overseeing our enriching Day Camp program amidst the splendor of our northern summer.

Under the direction and coordination of the Programs and Special Event Coordinators the incumbent will plan organize and implement the summer day camp program for the City of Yellowknife. The incumbent will be responsible for direct supervision of day camp leaders and all program participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary student ideally enrolled in an Education Recreation Administration or Physical Education program;
  • Intermediate First Aid and CPR - Certification copies must be provided;
  • Training in High Five Principals or Early Child Development will be seen as an asset;
  • Previous employment in a day camp setting will be seen as an asset;
  • A vulnerable sector check must be completed prior to commencing work;
  • Proof of current acceptance or enrolment in full-time post-secondary studies will be required to be shown at time of offer; and
  • Must be available for the duration of the summer.

HOURS OF WORK AND RATE OF PAY:

Rate of Pay: $31.31 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

Anticipated Start Date: May 4 2026

Hours of work: 8:00AM - 5:00PM Monday through Friday (40 hours per week)
