SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the general direction of the assigned Building Administrator assists students parents and school personnel through application of professional studies in the following areas: student assessment learning consultant counseling program development consultant in child growth and personality development and research.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides counseling and consultation services for students individually and in both large and small groups.
- Measures the intellectual social and emotional development of students and interprets the results of psychological studies.
- Diagnoses educational and personal disabilities and collaborates in the planning of re-education and therapeutic programs.
- Identifies exceptional students and collaborates in the planning of appropriate educational and social placement and programs.
- Develops ways to facilitate the learning and adjustment of students.
- Administers intellectual assessments behavioral or adaptive assessments gathers medical information and coordinates all necessary reports.
- Assist teachers and administrators in understanding child behavior and intellectual and personality differences as they apply to the individual student and the class.
- Serves in a consultative capacity in curriculum planning.
- Consults with individual students and/or families thereby serving as an agent for positive education and/or personal change.
- Encourages and initiates research and helps utilize research findings for the solution of school problems.
- Participates in meetings of multidisciplinary teams and coordinates multidisciplinary team paperwork.
- Attends Individual Educational Program meetings as necessary.
- Participates in informal student staffing teams at schools.
- Provides counseling as a related service as indicated in IEPs.
- Ensures complete documentation of the psychologist report and the summary assessments for students.
- Establishes beneficial relationships with students and staff based upon respect and rapport. Interacts positively with students parents co-workers staff volunteers and teacher interns.
- Communicates current Special Education rules regulations and Clover Park School District policy and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed a regular elementary or secondary school building. Work requires time spent beyond the school day to meet with students and parents at the convenience of the family. Exposure to normal amounts of dust and fumes from office machines and occasional loud noises. Ability to use arms hands and fingers; lift 20 pounds and push/pull 40 pounds; and to sit for prolonged periods of time are all required.

*Clover Park School District total possible pay consists of base salary plus the following:
Building Centered Responsibility - 5 days
District Centered Responsibility - 2.5 days

Attendance required for compensation of responsibility pay (building-centered district-centered and event).
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical dental vision long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.
