Position Summary
The Advancement Creative Designer will be a versatile and creative professional responsible for conceptualizing and executing a wide range of design collateral related to fundraising gifts and alumni relations in support of Advancement goals and consistent with other print and digital content of the University. This position will capture visual identities that reflect Concordias brand mission and Lutheran values across varied platforms.
This is a part-time position that reports to the Assistant Vice President for Advancement with significant interaction with the AVP of University Marketing & Communications and his/her team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and produce fundraising engagement and stewardship collateral for innovative modern and brand-aligned print and digital distribution. Collateral to include appeals proposals invitations event materials postcards flyers brochures publications presentations and large-format signage.
- Collaborate with Advancement communications staff to understand project goals and translate content into compelling visual designs.
- Remain current on University brand standards and fundraising industry design and layout trends.
- Prepare files for print production including proper color management and specifications.
- Source organize and retouch photography and other media assets for use across the department to meet quality standards and project requirements.
- Create engaging graphics and digital assets for social media platforms and web interfaces.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the members of the Advancement staff as well as University Marketing & Communications to accomplish the goals of the University at large.
- Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours on occasion to meet deadlines and be present at select university events
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of brand identity and the ability to express Concordias mission with visual clarity creativity and authenticity
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop InDesign and Illustrator) plus familiarity with Canva Pro to design for both print and digital formats
- Working knowledge of video and photography principles and how they integrate into design assets
- Understanding of fundraising and donor engagement communications preferred
- Interpersonal skills using tact and patience together with excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to work independently while supporting a team effort in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
- Proven ability to meet project deadlines and advance multiple projects simultaneously through to completion
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in graphic design fine arts visual communications or a related field required.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications is required. Experience using Canva Pro application is preferred.
- Demonstrated portfolio of design work is required.

This is a part-time non-exempt (hourly) position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience.
