Who we are:
Canadian Mental Health Association Durham is an integrated community mental health and primary care hub that has been providing mental health services to Durham Region for over 60 years.
During that time it has evolved to provide a broad range of services to individuals and their families experiencing mental health challenges from information and education to case management psychosocial rehabilitation housing and primary healthcare. These services are provided through inter-professional teams focused on providing clinically based services that in addition to dealing with client mental health issues address social determinants of health using the recovery model.
Overview of the Role:
Reporting to the HART Hub Lead this position will assist with the management of the day-to-day operations within the HART Hub program. This includes providing guidance to the HART Hub team members supporting administrative and direct service functions.
Location: HART Hub employees may begin work at 60 Bond St. West and will move to the designated HART Hub location in Oshawa at a later date.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Management
- Assists with providing support and direction to HART Hub employees
- Assists HART Hub staff with client admission treatment and discharge processes when needed
- Assists with overseeing and ensuring adequate staff coverage for overnight and evening shifts
- Assists with auditing data entries ensuring accuracy and adherence to CMHA Durham policy and procedures
- Supports HART Hub leads with administrative tasks such as Quality Indicator Reporting report writing work plans and other administrative duties as assigned
- Support of and participation in HART Hub building concerns that may include inspections reporting or liaising with CMHA Durhams facilities department
People Management
- Participates as a member of a high performance multi-service team that supports mental health clients within a variety of community settings
- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities within the HART Hub Program for evening shifts
- Provide support and direction to employees when needed ensuring activities are planned delivered and evaluated in accordance with professional standards operating principles best practices and legislative requirements
- Provide support to HART Hub Leads with supervision and leadership of employees when required
- Participates in interview teams hiring and orientation of new employees when required
- Assists with identifying the training and development needs of staff when required
- Supports all accreditation related activities as they relate to HART Hub
- Creates and maintains a positive work environment where all employees can maximize their job satisfaction and productivity
- Assists with the development and implementation of HART Hub policies and guidelines
- Facilitates team meetings focusing on business and operational issues as required
Client Safety
Adhere to CMHA Durham client safety programs including program policies as well as infection control and prevention partnership with clients family members and fellow staff maintain open lines of communication to assist the organization in identifying and achieving quality outcomes for client safety. Report client safety incidents and suggested improvements to manager or delegate.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Attend participate in team meetings and all employee meetings
- Participate in organizational quality improvement activities e.g. accreditation projects committee work special events
- Participate in quality improvement activities at the team/program level

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related area of study (i.e. mental health social sciences human services property management) and/or a minimum of five years related experience an/or equivalent combination of education and/or lived experience
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act Landlord and Tenant Act Health Care Consent Act social service benefits and related legislation in Ontario
- Ability to provide staff supervision and leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels within and outside the organization.
- Able to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients community partners and always represent the agency in a professional manner
- Ability to acquire and utilize community resources effectively to meet clients needs
- Flexibility to adapt to change
- Experience working with diverse communities and backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment.
- High level of critical thinking and logical thinking.
- Excellent organization time management and prioritizing skills.
- Ability to manage crisis situations.
- Valid Ontario Drivers license access to a dependable vehicle in safe working order and appropriate insurance coverage
- Knowledge of Indigenous communities and cultural practices (preferred).
- Basic to intermediate fluency in French considered an asset
- Work outside of normal business hours as required in compliance with the Disconnect from Work policy.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Access and Outlook) and PS suites an asset
Working Conditions:
- This position would be Onsite & after business hours within the HART Hub program
- Exposure to psychiatric behaviors that may be considered offensive (abusive/irate clients) deadlines
