Primary Purpose:
Under the direction of the Superintendent is responsible for planning and coordination of the activities of designated departments of the District. Assures compliance with established goals objectives and legal requirements concerning District administration. Responsible for the daily operations of the District in the absence of the Superintendent. Serves as the immediate supervisor for designated employees.
Education / Certification / Experience:
Doctorate required for this role. Experience in campus educational administration preferred. Central office experience required with three years of demonstrated success in human resources serving as the assistant superintendent or chief human resources officer. Superintendent experience preferred.
Special Knowledge / Skills:
1. Possess advanced understanding of management related to the areas of the designated divisions.
2. Possess knowledge of principles practices and trends of school district administration.
3. Possess knowledge of laws rules regulations and policies affecting the administration of a school district.
4. Possess sufficient language and human relation skills to prepare complex and decisive reports prepare and deliver formal presentations to large and diverse audiences and to build productive and effective work teams.
5. Maintains a commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning
6. Possess competence in the usage of basic computer skills and standard office software applications.
7. Possess effective public speaking techniques.
8. Interprets and applies state laws and rules education codes and government codes.
9. Maintains open communication and cooperative relationships with others inspires individual and team development and reviews processes for improvement.
10. Remains tactful and courteous in all matters to maintain and/or establish good public relations.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Division Leadership
1. Provides assistance and direction to all supervisors and managers in the assigned departments.
2. Analyzes situations and takes appropriate action regarding routine/emergency procedural matters without immediate supervision.
3. Prepares reports and information for the Superintendent Board of Trustees and various state and federal agencies.
4. Attends Board meetings and prepares reports to inform the Superintendent and/or the Board of Trustees.
5. Plans organizes and conducts assigned tasks so as to meet established deadlines.
6. Directs and coordinates the functions of the assigned departments.
7. Acts as Superintendent in the absence of the District Superintendent.
8. Assists in the implementation of the Districts emergency plan.
9. Oversees planning involving student demographics staffing and future facility planning.
10. Maintains timely regular consistent attendance at work.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Budget
1. Ensures that programs are cost effective and that funds are managed prudently.
2. Develops and monitors the annual budget for the division.
3. Implements the policies established by federal and state laws State Board of Education rule and local board policy in the area assigned.
Records
1. Supervises personnel records management and oversees compliance with the state records management program.
2. Develops and maintains systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs.
3. Compiles maintains files and secures all physical and electronic reports records and other required documents.
Division Personnel
1. Hires organizes and directs the work activities of division staff.
2. Evaluates job performance of designated employees to ensure effectiveness.
3. Provides training and development for division staff.
4. Ensures that department operations contribute to the attainment of district goals and objectives.
5. Reviews and monitors the annual budgets for the departments.
Other
1. Attends board meetings regularly and makes presentations to the board.
2. Participates in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of rules regulations and practices.
3. Assists the Superintendent and Board in developing policies and programs.
4. Personal cell phone is required to handle district related business including after hours or when away from the office on district business.
