Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for raising unrestricted funds to ensure a continual stream of financial support for the agency from annual donors of $1000 and higher these are considered Caritas Society donors. This includes effectively managing a portfolio of donors who give annually at the Caritas or major gift levels.

Responsible for identifying donors who are candidates to make leadership or early phase gifts for the Comprehensive Campaign. Formulate strategies and solicit gifts when appropriate. Responsible for assisting to identify planned giving prospects foundations and corporate partners and referring them to appropriate team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development Strategy - Work closely with the Chief Development Officer and other team members to formulate and execute annual and campaign plans and strategies for achieving the agencys fundraising goals.
  • Caritas Society - Plan and implement strategies to increase the number of Caritas members and their annual gifts with the target of 900 Caritas members. This includes all Caritas who are not assigned to another Relationship Manager.
    • Identify cultivate and solicit prospective Caritas members. This includes upgrading current donors giving under the $1000 threshold attending and networking at CCSCC and other public events to identify new donors and working with the Development Marketing Director to send direct mail solicitations.
    • Cultivate steward renew and upgrade the current Caritas members. This will include working in cooperation with the Development Marketing Director to develop appropriate direct and email solicitations for the Caritas level donors for the Spring and December annual campaigns as well as two CSM renewal campaigns in February and August/September.
  • Portfolio Management - Manage the relationship and develop solicitation strategies for a portfolio of 150 donors collaborating with colleagues board members and agency leadership to ensure maximum success. This includes:
    • Moves management activities: Discovery Cultivation Solicitation - Stewardship (Accurate and timely recording of donor activities in Raisers Edge).
    • Discern when to secure meetings between donors and leadership.
    • When appropriate cultivate and solicit restricted major and planned gifts from donors in your portfolio.
    • Track and manage all Unassigned Caritas members. Identify and assign those donors who need a Relationship Manager.
  • Caritas Events
    • Caritas Celebration Event - plan and coordinate the annual Generations of Generosity Mass and Celebration focused on donor recognition. Develop donor recognition strategies such as honoree gifts ( or books) Bishop/CEO letter of acknowledgement stewardship letters. This event has traditionally been in the evening but in 2026 it was held as a luncheon.
    • Donor Engagement & Prospecting Events - Work with other Relationship Managers to plan and execute a minimum of two additional events that will engage current Caritas donors and provide an opportunity to attract prospective Caritas donors. These could include house parties parish events cocktail receptions Agency briefings volunteer project days program tours planned giving cultivation events etc. All events are dependent upon Health and Security protocols of the Agency and SCC. Ideally two receptions will be held in different geographic locations within the county each year.
  • Donor Stewardship and Donor Engagement
    • Work with Development Marketing & Communications to create stewardship pieces (program updates Agency highlights success stories videos etc).
    • Manage the process of securing holiday stewardship gifts for top donors.
    • Schedule opportunities for donors to see the programs in action.
    • Look for volunteer opportunities that can engage Caritas members.
    • Coordinate purchase of Christmas ornaments (or other gifts) for major gift donors Caritas Milestone Honorees Board of Director and Development Committee members.
    • Develop tailored acknowledgement letters as needed for unique donor segments - special campaigns for senior meals auction item donations etc.

SUMMARY OF OTHER JOB DUTIES:

  • Development Committee - Coordinate communications and committee work for the Development Committee members. Set meeting dates send reminders prepare handouts and take minutes from meetings. Coordinate and prepare the read out report and submit to the CDO for approval. Submit timely Committee reports to the CEO Exec Asst for the Board packet.
  • Annual Parish Appeal - Support the Appeal Committee as needed including aiding in the securing of team ambassadors and speakers as well as communications with other parish volunteers. Continue to identify and recruit Caritas Ambassadors across parishes to serve as liaisons for CCSCC to parishes.
  • Fund Raising Events - support the Events Manager by helping to recruit sponsors and team players from within your portfolio.
  • Internal Catholic Charities Working Group - Serve on one of the internal working groups on behalf of the Development Committee.
  • Professional Organizations - Represent Development and CCSCC for internal and external functions within the general scope and nature of the position as called upon.
  • Other Duties As Assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE ANDREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated success with a minimum of three years of professional fundraising experience using Moves Management with metrics and contact reports. Ability to work a large portfolio while cultivating new prospects and generating referrals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer workstation.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to travel to agency sites within Santa Clara County.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check via Livescan valid drivers license and auto insurance per agency policy; or have access to reliable transportation.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Most work is done in a comfortable office environment.
  • May need to travel to other agency sites within Santa Clara County.

HOURS AND OTHER CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • This is a full-time exempt position. Hours and days of work will vary according to workload demands; some evening and weekend work will be required.

COMPENSATION: Final salary offer will be contingent on previous experience and skills.
