POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Womans University invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor to start in the Fall 2026 semester. The school seeks outstanding applicants whose area of clinical expertise focuses on school librarianship and who can teach courses related to school librarianship childrens and young adult literature and other areas of library and information science. Current school librarian certification and at least four years of experience working as a professional school librarian are required for this position.

JOB SUMMARY AND DUTIES

The successful candidate is expected to engage in a wide range of activities as a faculty member. They will teach courses in school librarianship childrens literature and other areas at the undergraduate and masters level advise students in SLISs School Librarian Certification program and will work collaboratively with colleagues on school campus and professional/community committees. They will share their clinical expertise with colleagues and students such as publishing practice-based articles and giving presentations at practitioner conferences/workshops. Holding weekly office hours on the Denton campus is expected.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

(a) A masters or doctoral degree in LIS or a closely related field and at least four years of professional experience as a school librarian; (b) current school librarian certification; (c) commitment to meeting the educational needs of a diverse online student population; (d) strong potential for excellence in online teaching; (e) willingness to participate in service activities of the school college university and profession/community.

SCHOOL INFORMATION:

The School of Library and Information Studies one of four departments in the College of Professional Education is committed to excellence in graduate education. The school offers the oldest continuously ALA-accredited masters degree program in the Southwest and its programs are available entirely online. The school offers a Master of Library Science degree and certificate programs in School Librarianship Community Information and Health Sciences Librarianship. The school supports curricula for students across the university including undergraduate and graduate concentrations in an interdisciplinary informatics degree program a dual masters degree in Library Science and Health Studies and a minor in Library Science for students in other disciplines.
