Civil Engineer Transportation Design

Join AECOMs Highway and Transportation Design Team in Roanoke VA as an experienced Civil Engineer Transportation Design. AECOMs Roanoke office delivers some of the regions most exciting and impactful transportation projects offering engineers the opportunity to be involved with  highvisibility transportation infrastructure projects.  In this role you will contribute to a wide range of engaging and complex projects including roadway and drainage design highway and bridge improvements traffic engineering analysis and transportation planning studies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop design criteria and produce roadway geometry traffic control plans signing and pavement marking layouts drainage systems and stormwater management solutions.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings specifications and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Create technical reports tables and graphics in accordance with client requirements and AECOM standards.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support design decisions and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
• Follow and promote AECOM quality assurance procedures.
• Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data and assess existing project conditions.
• Prepare presentations to communicate technical findings recommendations and constraints.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to meet project scope budget and schedule requirements through responsible and ethical decisionmaking.
• Support AECOM project managers and department managers with project execution.

Qualifications :

Minimum: 

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline plus four (4) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Demonstrated experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or similar highway or transportation design software.

PREFERRED:

• Design experience with VDOT projects
• Experience in civil engineering with an emphasis on Roadway Drainage and Traffic projects
• Ability and willingness to offer mentorship to various levels of staff
• Ability and willingness to operate within a hybrid work schedule environment with hybrid teams
• Professional Engineer (PE) License in any state or ability to obtain PE within 1 year of hire
• Degree accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET
