JOB DESCRIPTION
FABRICATOR TIER 3
The Tier 3 Fabricator is the highest skill level fabricator responsible for leading complex trailer repair fabrication and customization projects. This role requires advanced welding and fabrication skills the ability to read and design from detailed blueprints or drawings and the leadership to oversee and train lower-tier team members.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead major fabrication and customization projects from start to finish
- Perform advanced MIG/TIG/Stick welding on steel aluminum and specialty metals
- Design lay out and fabricate customer components assemblies and modifications
- Read interpret and when necessary create detailed drawings and plans. CAD experience preferred
- Operate shop equipment including welders cutting torches grinders plasma cutters and saws
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds structural integrity quality and safety standards
- Diagnose complex trailer structural issues and develop repair solutions
- Train and mentor Tier 1 and 2 fabricators providing training and guidance
- Communicate effectively with service advisors when technical expertise is required
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and time spent on jobs
- Maintain clean and organized workstations and shop areas
- Support coworkers able to work as part of a team and get along with co-workers
- Follow all health and safety rules and guidelines as well as common sense safety practices
Mechanic Behavioral and Knowledge-Based Requirements and Qualifications
- Must be able to read and write in English in order to understand blueprints and design documents
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Vocational/ Trade-School certification preferred
- Tier 3 Fabricator requires 5 years of professional welding and fabrication experience
- Tier 2 Fabricator requires 2-4 years of welding and fabrication experience
- Tier 1 Fabricator requires 0 years of experience. Entry level team member.
- Mastery of multiple welding processes (MIGTIG Stick) and metals
- Able to pass pre-employment knowledge or skill testing designed to determine probability of success on the job and mechanic classification
- Able to pass background check
- Strong design layout and problem-solving skills
- Experience leading projects and mentoring team members
- Efficient worker
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven mechanical acuity and basic math skills
Mechanic Physical Requirements
- Able to be pass medical physical exam
- Able to work in uncomfortable conditions (heat cold small spaces)
- Able to work in physically demanding positions
- Able to stand on ones feet for prolonged periods
- Lift push or pull 50 pounds at a time
- Able to scale ladders or other means of access to trailer roof or interior
