Position: Temporary Human Resources Assistant - Operations Department
Salary: Band 2: $33.59 - $40.06 per hour 4% vacation pay
Location: Human Resources (Operations department) J.W. Singleton Education Centre
Work Schedule: 35 hours/week 12 months/year
Start Date: As Soon As Possible to August 31 2026
Position Summary:
Reporting to the HR Manager of Operations the successful applicant will provide assistance to the HR Operations and Staffing and Recruitment department in processing high volume of police check renewals as per the implementation of the revised Ontario Regulation 298/25 . The successful applicant would be dedicated to ensure the board meets its obligations under the new regulation.
The HDSB follows a Work from Home Administrative accordance with this Administrative Procedure and with the approval of the immediate supervisor employees who work at HDSB administrative sites may work from home for up to 50% of their regularly scheduled hours. Work from Home arrangements may change based on the future needs of the Board.
Key Responsibilities:
Communication with employees via email and phone calls
Managing and tracking the collection and verification of the Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC) and Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Checks (CRJMC)
Following-up and managing late submissions
Providing reports to the appropriate managers for conviction adjudication
Reviewing and maintaining confidential documentation
Other duties as required by the OPS Department
Ensuring data is correctly entered into the HRIS system and in a timely manner
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
College Diploma - Human Resources Management or a related field
Two years of general Human Resources experience
Strong Microsoft Office (Word Excel Access)
Familiar with Google suite of products
Analytical and Problem Solving
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality while providing administrative support
Excellent organizational skills with an ability to multitask
Strong oral and written communication skills
Customer service focus
Highly effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload
Preferred Requirements:
2 to 4 years of Human Resources experience in a complex multi-union public-sector environment
Working towards CHRP
Familiarity with the Human Resources Information Systems
