Division:Division: Office of Consumer Advocacy & Diversity/SHIP

The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking a qualified leader to serve as an Insurance Manager in the Office of Consumer Advocacy & Diversity/SHIP Division. This position manages division operations related to consumer advocacy assistance outreach and regulatory compliance activities connected to SHIP programs and insurance consumer services. The incumbent directs supervisory and professional staff oversees complex consumer and regulatory matters and ensures consistent application of insurance laws rules and departmental policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven years of experience in insurance administrative services investigations or law enforcement; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in insurance administrative services investigations or law enforcement; OR

A bachelors degree plus four years of experience in insurance administrative services investigations or law enforcement; OR

An advanced degree plus three years of experience in insurance administrative services investigations or law enforcement.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As an Insurance Manager in the Office of Consumer Advocacy & Diversity/SHIP Division you will/may:

  • Manage division operations involving consumer advocacy SHIP program functions and insurance consumer assistance activities.
  • Direct and supervise Insurance Supervisors and professional staff handling consumer complaints inquiries outreach and compliance matters.
  • Establish priorities assign work and monitor performance to ensure timely accurate and consistent service delivery.
  • Oversee complex consumer complaint and regulatory matters and provide final-level guidance and resolution authority.
  • Ensure division compliance with Louisiana insurance laws regulations policies and departmental procedures.
  • Develop implement and refine operational procedures and workflow controls.
  • Review and approve reports recommendations correspondence and regulatory determinations.
  • Meet with insurers partner agencies advocacy groups and other stakeholders regarding consumer insurance issues and program operations.
  • Support outreach education and diversity-focused consumer initiatives connected to SHIP and related programs.
  • Analyze operational and program data to identify trends risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare management reports program summaries and executive briefings.
  • Represent the division in internal and external meetings committees or hearings as assigned.
  • Participate in policy development and legislative or regulatory support activities as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
