1. Background and Purpose of the Assignment
The Joint Programme on Rural Womens Economic Empowerment (JP RWEE) is a multi-agency initiative led by FAO IFAD WFP UN Women to accelerate progress towards the economic empowerment of rural women. The Joint Programme is being implemented as a five-year programme in Nepal Niger the Pacific Islands Rwanda Tanzania and Tunisia from. In order to attain its optimal level of impact the JP focuses on four key outcomes for rural women: (1) improved food and nutrition security; (2) increased income and economic autonomy to sustain livelihoods and build resilience; (3) enhanced leadership and participation in rural institutions and in shaping laws policies and programmes and (4) more gender-responsive policy environment for the economic empowerment of rural women.
This TDY is an extension of the TDY that the consultant has been doing since January 2025. Based on an agreement with the South South Cooperation Unit she has increased gradually her support the JP RWEE from 2 days a week until September 3 days until December 2025 and moving to 100% from January 2026.
Based on the TOR of KM/Comms Specialist for the JPRWEE the purposes of this TDY are to provide technical support to the Global Coordination Unit (GCU) and Country teams in preparing and start implementing the Knowledge Management & Communication plan for 2026.
