Litigation Associate
We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 5 7 years of litigation experience to join our Labor and Employment Department in White Plains New York. This role offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated labor employment municipal and education-related matters in both state and federal courts.
The position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys litigation values client interaction and is looking to further develop subject-matter expertise within a well-resourced and supportive law firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle employment-related civil rights and municipal litigation matters from discovery through trial
- Draft and argue discovery motions motions to dismiss and summary judgment motions
- Provide legal advice on employment law matters including hiring practices employee relations terminations discrimination harassment and wage and hour issues
- Manage employee disciplinary matters labor grievances arbitrations and collective bargaining negotiations
- Represent clients before administrative agencies including the Public Employment Relations Board Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and New York State Division of Human Rights
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy and client counseling
- Advise on education-related matters including special education services and impartial hearings
- Collaborate with client stakeholders including HR management and legal teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the relevant state bar
- 5 7 years of state and/or federal court litigation experience
- Strong research writing and analytical skills
- Knowledge of state and federal court motion practice and procedures
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple matters and priorities in a fast-paced environment
