Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate creative and knowledgeable 48-weekSpecial Education Teacher to lead a small supportive classroom of preschoolers with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of early childhood development experience implementing IEPs and the ability to differentiate instruction in an engaging and structured way. Collaboration with teaching assistants therapists and families is essential to support each childs developmental progress.
Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction to students in all developmental domains (cognitive communication motor social-emotional adaptive) using evidence-based practices
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with NYS Prekindergarten Standards and individualized goals
Lead and manage a small classroom team including Teacher Aides and Teaching Assistants
Implement students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collect ongoing progress data
Collaborate with related service providers (Speech OT PT etc.) and participate in team meetings
Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
Maintain a safe nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives
Qualifications
New York State certification in Students with Disabilities (BirthGrade 2) or equivalent
Bachelors Degree in Special Education (Masters Degree preferred)
Experience working with preschool-age children with special needs (preferred)
Strong communication organization and teamwork skills
Commitment to inclusive practices and family-centered education
