Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation 300 days of sun a year more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
Job Summary: In this role you will plan develop and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work produce drawings and documentation and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients facilitate technical discussions and review and approve drawings calculations and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards. Essential duties performed may include pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code. The stress work involves the modeling of the piping systems to verify piping flexibility stability and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.
Major Responsibilities: Leads or administers work of PD&Pdesigners and drafters for a business line technology to includethe preparation of layouts study drawings detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models andconstruction drawings. Develops designs for complete and complex PD&Pengineering systems such as earthwork drainage roaddesign foundation and steel detailing with minimumsupervision from which detailed scale models and/orconstruction drawings are completed. Assists in constructing detailed scale models. Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned materialrequisitions and bid evaluations. Monitors and checks work for compliance with approvedPD&P design standards to provide quality designreliable/safe plant operation and construction economy. Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with allapplicable installation codes regulations and standards. Participates in constructability reviews. Plans develops coordinates and reviews design work within a small-size PD&Pdesign work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of globalbusiness unit. Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scopeincluding design of earthwork drainage road design foundation and steel detailing. Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codesregulations and standards. Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of PD&Pengineers scientists specialists designers and drafters. Prepares or oversees the preparation of PD&P design estimates and work plan inaccordance with project scope schedule and budget and manages implementation andperformance accordingly.
Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelors degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience (OR) Requires bachelors degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills: Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen physical (if located at the construction site) and background check which includes verification of employment and education. Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.) Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concernsincluding sensitive countries state sponsors of terrorism countries of risk and other designated countries are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access. Prior experience using pipe stress analysis programs including ME101 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE.
