Are you an experienced helicopter pilot with a passion for mentorship and technical excellence Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Helicopter Simulator Flight Instructor to shape the next generation of rotary-wing aviators. Based in our world-class training facility in Grand Prairie TX you will utilize state-of-the-art Full Motion Flight Simulator Training Devices to deliver critical transition and recurrent training. How We Care for You:
Your Challenges:
Classroom and Simulator Instruction: 60%
Deliver pilot ground and simulator training for helicopter pilots seeking initial transition or recurrent training on Airbus Helicopters models.
Conduct detailed pre-briefs and de-briefs with trainees to reinforce training objectives
Evaluate and measure trainee progress and recommend for qualification or additional training
Complete accurate customer training records as required.
Instructional Design: 20%
Develop and maintain up-to-date course materials and lesson plans to support customer training objectives/requirements
Monitor industry safety trends and best practices; recommend and prepare future course offerings accordingly
Compliance: 20%
Maintain Instructor qualifications and records in accordance with applicable regulatory/company requirements
Adhere to all company and regulatory requirements applicable to flight training activities (e.g. TSA ITAR etc.)
Your Boarding Pass:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum five (5) years flight experience.
Minimum 1500 flight hours as pilot-in-command of helicopters including at least 350 hours as multi-engine helicopter pilot and 150 flight hours as helicopter instructor
Must possess Commercial-Rotorcraft and Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII) certificates (FAA and/or ICAO member state)
Must participate in the companys DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program
Computer proficiency Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite and other web-based programs
Preferred Education/Skills:
BS/BA degree or higher
AS350 EC135 EC145 and/or H145 helicopter experience
FAR Partand/or military training experience
Night vision goggle experience
2500 hours of total flight time
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate (FAA and/or ICAO member state)
Proficiency with Learning Management Systems and other planning systems (e.g. Visual Planning)
Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese language(s)
Travel Required:
Up to 5% Domestic and International

Physical Requirements:
Onsite: 95%
Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens able to read documents reports and engineering drawings. Able to see and read helicopter instruments. Able to detect various colors. Requires the ability to conduct training in simulated night conditions. 100%
Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference vis radio communications or phone and to hear sounds on production floor and in a helicopter including safety warnings or alarms 100%
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings deliver information and participate in communications. Ability to speak during radio communications 100%
Equipment Operation: Must be able to climb into onto and out of a helicopter/simulator; able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts; able to use a computer and flight equipment. 95%
Carrying: able to carry documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs 25%
Lifting: able to lift up to 30lbs/14kgs. 25%
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools able to spin a helicopter rotor during pre-flight checks 10%
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings working on computer or in aircraft flight decks. 50%
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to check body of aircraft and to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. 10%
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor 50%
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice 5%
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. 25%
Environment: able to enter and exit from the Flight Simulator via a ramp; Move between the Instructor station and pilot/observer seats within the Flight Simulator; Evacuate from the Flight Simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude (in the event of a severe malfunction or emergency). 100%
Height and weight: Must be in a range to operate safely the aircraft. No interference with the flight controls. 100%
Manual dexterity: Reach and manipulate numerous screens buttons switches and controls within the Flight Simulator. 100%
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes but is not limited to Flight Helmets Safety Shoes Safety Glasses Hearing Protection Respirators/Masks and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
