Caterpillar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern NC Programmer to support CNC programming and machining process development within a production manufacturing environment.
This role provides hands-on experience working with NC programs tooling strategies and continuous improvement activities while aligning with Caterpillars values and competency framework.
Key Responsibilities
Support development modification and verification of NC programs for CNC machining centers
Assist with tool path optimization for cycle time tool life and surface finish
Participate in CNC prove-out activities under supervision
Support documentation of machining processes setup sheets and standard work
Collaborate with engineers programmers and operators to resolve basic machining issues
Adhere to Caterpillar safety quality and manufacturing standards
Required Qualifications
Pursuing a bachelors degree in manufacturing engineering
Mechanical Engineering or related field
Ability to work 40 hours ONSITE in Lafayette IN during SUMMER 2026 Semester with possible extension to Part-time during FALL 2026 (10 15 hours onsite)
Basic understanding of CNC machining and NC programming concepts
Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T fundamentals
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a manufacturing environment

Summary Pay Range:
$25.00 - $43.00Intern Hour Rate:
An interns hourly rate is based on the major/degree being pursued and the number of completed academic hours achieved before the start of the internship.
