• Full Time - 80 hrs per f/n
• Occupational Therapist Grade 5 (VG18)
• Location: Bayside Health - Alfred Care Group (The Alfred Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals)

Occupational Therapy Department:

The Alfred Care Group Occupational Therapy Service operates across The Alfred Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals.
The Occupational Therapy Service includes approximately 60 EFT (operational reports) with an additional 40-50 EFT (professional reports) who provide interventions to inpatients and outpatients across all Alfred Health clinical programs. The Occupational Therapy Service is aligned to the Alfred Care Group Health strategic goals and operational performance targets.
The Occupational Therapy Service is committed to the teaching and ongoing professional education of staff and students research and quality improvement activities. All Occupational Therapy staff must always meet the professions competency-based minimum standards of practice.
All Occupational Therapy staff must be registered with AHPRA.
The Alfred Care Group Occupational Therapy Service provides the workforce to each clinical program and therefore supports each clinical program meeting performance targets including patient experience access elective surgery and waitlist management measures.

Position Summary:

The Occupational Therapy Manager is the Occupational Therapy professional lead across the Alfred Care Group in ensuring that the Occupational Therapy workforce is fit for purpose and that the right person is completing the right task at the right time. The role leads Occupational Therapy service operations within the Allied Health Directorate.
They will be responsible for:

• The overall leadership management and professional practice of the Occupational Therapy Service to ensure the provision of high-quality Occupational Therapy in accordance with Alfred Care Group strategic and operational plans and Occupational Therapy professional practice standards.
• Operational responsibility for Occupational Therapy Service (excluding Community & Ambulatory and Psychiatry programs).
• Ensuring that expert clinical intervention is provided and that clinical care is provided safely in accordance with best practice professional standards and other relevant external standards
• Advising on the strategic direction of the Occupational Therapy and Allied Health Directorate and an active contribution to the allied health service within the clinical programs.
• Professional accountability for all Occupational Therapy clinicians across allied health including those who do not operationally report to the Allied Health Directorate i.e. Community and Ambulatory and Psychiatry programs.
• Working collaboratively with allied health managers to support achievement of broader allied health goals.
• Performing other duties as required and delegated by the CAHO/Director of Allied Health or Deputy Director/s of Allied Health

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Essential

• Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Eligibility for membership of the Australian Occupational Therapy Association
• Registration for practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
• Experience in the delivery and/or management of an Occupational Therapy Service in a major public health service hospital environment and recognised as a leader within the Occupational Therapy profession
• Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues and directions of allied health services
• Extensive past experience in the supervision and mentoring of Occupational Therapy students and support staff
• Demonstrated health system wide knowledge and ability to respond to the changing needs of the Occupational Therapy Service
• Demonstrated experience as an Allied Health Leader in a Health Service or hospital environment

Desirable

• Post-graduate clinical qualifications or health services management/administration/ business management at Masters level or higher.
