Health & Safety Officer Wind Farm Grid Connection
110kV / 33kV Substation 12-Month Contract Site-Based
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to support the safe delivery of subcontracted works on a wind farm grid connection project including the connection of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) to a new 110kV/33kV substation.
The role is site-based and will provide hands-on safety leadership across civil electrical mechanical lifting and commissioning activities ensuring compliance with Irish legislation HSA Codes of Practice client standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with:
Support the Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) in meeting statutory duties
Ensure subcontractor works align with the Construction Stage Safety & Health Plan
Promote and maintain a strong site safety culture
Monitor and control high-risk activities including:
Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS)
Site inductions and toolbox talks
Support permit-to-work systems and safety documentation
Assist with incident reporting investigations and corrective actions
Prepare safety reports and provide updates to project teams
Requirements
QQI Level 6 Health & Safety qualification (or equivalent)
Experience on Irish construction projects preferably within:
- Renewable energy
- Wind farm or grid connection projects
Strong working knowledge of:
- SHWW Act 2005
- Construction Regulations 2013
- HSA Codes of Practice
Proven ability to work independently on multi-contractor sites
Strong communication reporting and site engagement skills
