1 month contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
Birmingham Childrens Trust is seeking a Family Support Worker (Grade 4) to join their team on a temporary contract from 09/02/2026 to 20/03/2026.
This role offers the opportunity to work with families to support childrens welfare and development contributing to the Trusts Good Ofsted-rated services.
The position is full-time 36.5 hours per week based at One Avenue Birmingham with regular working hours of 08:4517:15.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Provide practical support guidance and advice to children and families in line with Trust policies.
Assist in assessing family needs and implementing support plans.
Work collaboratively with social workers schools and other agencies to promote positive outcomes for children.
Deliver interventions aimed at improving parenting skills family relationships and child wellbeing.
Maintain accurate case notes and records ensuring compliance with Trust and statutory requirements.
Attend meetings and contribute to multi-agency team discussions and reviews.
Support children and families in crisis situations providing guidance and signposting to appropriate services.
Monitor and evaluate progress against set goals and outcomes.
Skills/Experience:
Previous experience in family support social care or childrens services.
Knowledge of child welfare safeguarding and child protection legislation.
Ability to assess family needs and implement appropriate interventions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills including working with vulnerable families.
Experience in multi-agency working and collaboration with external organisations.
Competent in record keeping and report writing in line with statutory requirements.
Ability to work independently manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
Empathy patience and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.
