Job Summary

5 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking a temporary Assistant Lawyer (Housing and Litigation) to support the Housing & Litigation Team.
The role involves assisting the Senior Lawyer in licensing prosecution and housing-related legal matters.
This is a full-time contract (35 hours/week) from 18/01/2026 to 18/06/2026 with standard office hours of 09:0017:00.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Assist the Senior Lawyer in conducting legal work for housing and litigation cases.
Manage allocated licensing and prosecution matters under supervision.
Prepare draft and review legal documents notices and correspondence.
Provide legal advice and guidance in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Support case preparation for hearings tribunals and court proceedings.
Maintain accurate case files and records in compliance with internal policies.
Liaise with internal departments external agencies and stakeholders as required.
Conduct research on housing licensing and litigation law to support legal cases.

Skills/Experience:
Qualified solicitor or equivalent legal experience in housing law litigation and licensing matters.
Knowledge of housing legislation enforcement and prosecution processes.
Experience in drafting legal documents notices and correspondence.
Strong case management and organisational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain complex legal information clearly.
Ability to work under supervision and manage allocated caseloads efficiently.
Experience liaising with internal teams courts and external stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in IT and legal case management systems.

Additional Information:
Hours: 35 per week 09:0017:00.
