Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Shear/Break Operator to join our team.This role is responsible for setting up operating and maintaining shearing machines to cut metal sheets or other materials according to specifications.
Responsibilities
- Follow Triple-S safe methods of work at all times and immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
- Operate and maintain shearing machine to cut materials according to blueprints or work orders.
- Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to determine cutting requirements.
- Maintain and safely operate tools and equipment as assigned including but not limited to tape measure caliper hammer pallet trucks banding machine micrometer beam hook plate lifting clamps forklift shear overhead crane and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform routine checks on equipment and notify supervisor of any damages or concerns.
- Use of handheld mobile devices and computer entries of work orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- The ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.
- Ability to develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
- Ability to maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing safety and customer relations.
- Demonstrate basic math skills (add subtract multiply divide).
- Demonstrate strong customer relations skills.
