The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. GIS Analyst II Pay Range: $70320.00 - $87895.00

Join Southwest Power Pool (SPP) as our next GIS Analyst IIwhere GIS supports grid reliability.

In this role youll perform advanced spatial analysis and create high-quality GIS visuals that support transmission and generation studies energy markets and real-time operations critical to grid reliability.

The GIS Analyst II develops maintains and enhances GIS applications and geodatabases using tools such as ArcGIS Oracle JavaScript and Python. Youll manage complex data entry maintain geodatabase metadata and produce professional maps and visual products for presentations reports and publications. This position also collaborates closely with GIS and IT teams to support high-availability (24/7) systems and to develop web-based mapping and spatial analysis tools used across the organization.

In addition to technical responsibilities youll manage and maintain GIS documentationincluding user manuals processes data models and testing oversightand partner with internal stakeholders to support data collection map development and transmission system updates. The role requires working knowledge of governing frameworks such as the SPP Open Access Transmission Tariff FERC and NERC standards SPP By-Laws and committee structures.

Success in this role requires strong technical expertise collaboration and adaptability. Youll work cross-functionally to meet aggressive timelines engage with end users to understand evolving business needs and develop tools and processes with minimal oversight. Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college with coursework in Geography Computer Science Geographic Information Systems or closely related field.

Experience Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of professional GIS experience
  • Experience with ESRIs ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop

  • Effective and efficient understanding of cartographic design principles.

  • Effective ability to perform spatial data analysis through the use of mapping software.

  • Ability to design digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.

  • Ability to import export and create spatial data

  • Demonstrate the ability to create custom layouts (both hard-copy and digital)

  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills

  • Strong inter-personal and teamwork skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Competent working skills with communication and data handling software such as the Microsoft Office Suite: Word Excel and Access

  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle and ESRI software packages

  • Basic understanding of Python and how it relates to ESRI products

  • Experience using various spatial analysis techniques

  • Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures

Preferred:

  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
  • Experience using versioned databases
  • Experience programming using SQL HTML CSS JavaScript and Python
  • Spatial analysis experience in the utility sector

Position Type Location and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time onsite hybrid position based in Little Rock Arkansas. The standard workweek is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with extended hours may be required.

Travel Requirement:

  • This position requires moderate travel for in-office employees (0-10%)
