JOB SUMMARY: Physician Faculty members are well versed and experienced in all phases of Medicine and have achieved a specific level of expertise. Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include teaching in the Osteopathic Principles and Practices course (if a D.O.) advising medical students interviewing applicants and contributing to the mission of the college through research and service. The successful candidate will also participate in the History & Physical Examination course and facilitate in the problem based learning (PBL) curriculum.The salary range is $00 per year for full timeand will be based on academic rank dependent upon qualifications and experience. The hourly wage for part time is $57.69.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are a list of Academic Exercises that may be required as a member of the Physician Faculty from time to time:
- Serve as an instructor in various Clinical Examination courses;
- Serve as a Problem Based Learning Facilitator;
- Serve as instructor in the OPP course (if a D.O.);
- Assist in Simulation Lab supervision on an as needed basis;
- Interview prospective candidates for the College of Medicine (COM);
- Serve on Committees as assigned and as Advisor to assigned students and at least one club;
- Provide at minimum two scholarly activity or research project yearly;
- Preparation of educational tools (A/V demonstration models lectures lesson plansetc.);
- Preparation of Clinical exercises that parallel real life Clinic protocol and procedureby means of case based models;
- Preparation of demonstrations lectures small group discussions and the selection of suggested and required reading from various sources and coordinating these educational tools with other faculty members;
- Prepare evaluation tools that will aid in the evaluation of students work product and help to identify students that are discovered to be weak in various areas;
- Attend Team meetings approved by COM that require advancement of your profession;
- Must be able to take direction and receive assignments from the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs;
- Prepare course syllabus in detail to include all assignments readings both for laboratory exercises and discussions (examinations) that will guide the student through the rigorous curriculum;
- Must be available for work during the hours assigned for student instruction; and
- Accept other duties assigned/needed for the Institutions needs.
