Vacancy Status:This position is for an existing vacant role within the organization.

LOCATION: TORONTO WEST & TORONTO CENTRAL

Toronto West boundaries:

  • West - Highway 27
  • North - Steeles Avenue
  • East - Keele Street
  • South - Lakeshore Blvd

Toronto Central boundaries:

  • West - Keele Street
  • North - Steeles Avenue
  • East - Victoria Park
  • South - Lakeshore Blvd

WHAT HOURS YOULL WORK:This opportunity has no set permanent work schedule.

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THE FOLLOWING:

    • Work in both Toronto West and Toronto Central
    • A minimum of 4 days a week between Monday to Sunday
    • Of the 4 days 1 must be a weekend either Saturday or Sunday & must be able to work at least a 6 hours between 3 pm 12 midnight
      • Example shifts include:

        • 3:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m.

        • 4:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m.

        • 5:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m.

        • 6:00 p.m. 12:00 a.m.

WHAT YOULL DO:

  • You will be part of a team that will be provide supports to a specific group of clients. When out in the community you will work independently in clients homes. You will establish and maintain your relationships with clients. You will provide personal support services for clients in their homes to assist with activities of daily living. (Including:lifts/transfers bowel/bladder routines dressing/undressing skin care respiration meals/drinks general hygiene).

WHAT YOULL BRING:

  • A passion for providing exceptional personal support services to male/female clients
  • Ability to lift and transfer clients
  • Manages time in co-operation with clients to complete tasks
  • Ability to accept direction from clients regarding services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving conflict resolution and judgment skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with others
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 computer skills (Outlook Word)

HOW TO QUALIFY:

  • Completed a PSW Program that meets the appropriate standards established by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities the National Association of Career Colleges or the Ontario Community Support Association and must be 600 hours in duration (including class time and practical experience time). This also includes a PSW Program from an Adult and Continuing Education School Board.
  • 6 Months PSW experience gained in the physical disabilities sector
  • Ontario Personal Support Worker Association (OPSWA) membership would be considered an asset
  • Proof of First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Person)
  • Ability to travel between client appointments and willingness to work in the community
