JOB TITLE: Communication and Graphic Design Consultant

UNIT/DIVISION: Financial Reporting Service CFOR CFO Division


DUTY STATION (City Country): Rome-based

DURATION: 5 months with possible extension

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Financial Reporting Service (CFOR) is in the Chief Financial Officer Division and oversees corporate financial reporting within WFP. Its main responsibility is the supervision and support of the Contribution Accounting and Donor Financial Reporting Branch (CFORC) and General Accounts Branch (CFORG). In addition it drives project-related activities such as Reporting Excellence - a key initiative of the Finance Strategy 2024 that focuses on the automation of financial management.
This position will support CFOR activities with specialized skills in Communications and Graphic Design. It will report to the Communications Lead in CFOR and have an indirect reporting line to the Director for Financial Reporting.


ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Director Financial Reporting Service and in close coordination with the Communications Advocacy and Marketing Division (CAM) the consultant will have the following responsibilities:
Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies for CFOR and its branches (CFORC and CFORG) ensuring alignment with divisional priorities and proactively managing integrated communication calendars to support long-term planning and high-visibility initiatives.
Support the end-to-end development of high-quality learning materials advising project leads and subject-matter experts on effective instructional design for corporate reporting webinars/trainings including annual financial closure and Annual Country Report (ACR) processes.
Support the production of an advanced visual communication assets (videos infographics animations PPTs intranet content) ensuring brand consistency accessibility and strong visual narrative aligned with CFORs strategic objectives.
Supporting the coordination and realization of divisional communication strategies pro-actively.
Support the conceptualization and design of data visualization products transforming complex financial information into clear compelling graphical formats (leveraging tools such as Tableau and DOTS) to enhance decision-making and stakeholder understanding.

Working in close collaboration with counterparts to align activities and ensure a coherent approach in communications within the Chief Financial Officer Division.
Support the coordination and concept creation of events such as retreats.
Other tasks upon request.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
A degree in Graphic Design Communication Business Administration Finance or a related field.
Experience:
Professional communication skills including active listening speaking writing and responding within the workplace environment.
Minimum 3 years of experience in supporting the conceptualization coordination and communications surrounding strategic communication initiatives.
Highly developed design skills demonstrated in a portfolio of recent work.
Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Cloud products: Photoshop Illustrator InDesign etc.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products particularly PowerPoint and Word.
Interest and willingness to understand processes in financial context.
Ability to work under tight deadlines.
Knowledge of motion graphics desirable.
Knowledge & Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills and work ethics able to proactively and independently pursue tasks and ensure timely delivery.
Written and analytic skills; able to gather review and synthesize information from a variety of sources and create clear and concise reports based on information gathered.
Effective organizational and planning skills to ensure set objectives are achieved within agreed timeframes.
Languages:
Excellent command in English language. Knowledge of a second official UN language: Arabic Chinese French Russian Spanish and/or WFPs working language Portuguese will be an advantage.
