The Rehabilitation Sciences Department through the School of Medical Sciences wishes to recruit a Senior Lecturer who will contribute actively to but not limited to Undergraduate and Postgraduate training research and community engagements. The Senior Lecturer will support and facilitate the teaching of Physiotherapy to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Physiotherapy/ physical-therapy.
A Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy is an experienced academic who teaches manages and develops university physiotherapy programs often holds specializing in areas like cardio-respiratory orthopedics neurorehabilitation pediatrics geriatrics and pelvic health e.t.c. The Senior Lecturer conducts research require a strong clinical expertise teaching skills leadership focusing on curriculum development student support and advancing the professions evidence base.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Curriculum: Deliver lectures lead modules develop programs and support student learning across various levels (Bachelors Masters).
- Research & Scholarship: Conduct research publish in peer-reviewed journals and engage in knowledge transfer.
- Leadership & Administration: Take on course leadership manage student records and contribute to academic objectives and quality assurance.
- Student Support: Act as a module tutor advise on career paths and provide mentorship.
- Clinical Expertise: Apply contemporary clinical knowledge often in specific fields like cardio-respiratory orthopedics neurorehabilitation pediatrics geriatrics and pelvic health rehabilitation e.t.c.

General requirements
- Education: Earned a BSc. MSc and PhD degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized University.
- Professional Registration: Membership with the relevant proffesional bodies (e.g. Physiotherapy Council of Kenya in Kenya) or be registerable.
- Experience: Significant experience in higher education teaching clinical practice administration functions initiate fundraising linkages and community engagements.
- Skills: Excellent communication teamwork research and leadership abilities plus commitment to professional development.
Specific Requirements
have a Doctorate Degree or its academic equivalent from University or a recognized accredited institution.
have at least 3 years of teaching and/or research experience at University level since becoming Lecturer/Research Fellow.
3. a) Must have a minimum of 4 articles in refereed journals or 20 equivalents scholarly publication points since appointment as Lecturer/Research Fellow.
b) Those from the research/industry should have at least 8 articles in refereed journals or 40 equivalent Scholarly publication points and evidence of teaching and/or supervision experience at university level.
c) Not more than 2 articles should be in a single issue/volume of a journal/other Scholarly Publications.
OR
4. a) Must have a Masters degree plus a minimum of 5 years of university teaching experience after becoming Lecturer and 5 articles in refereed journals or a minimum of 25 equivalent publication points since becoming Lecturer/Research Fellow.
b) Those from the research/industry should have at least 10 articles in refereed journals or 50 equivalent scholarly publication points and evidence of teaching and/or supervision experience at university level.
c) Not more than 2 articles should be in a single issue/volume of a journal.
have supervised post-graduate degree candidates.
have attended and contributed at learned conferences seminars or workshops.
7. Must show evidence of continued research and evaluated effective teaching & success
in student supervision.
8. Must show evidence of contribution to university life through active participation in departmental matters students academic advising School and University meetings committee membership and others.
9.(a) Must be recognized and registered by relevant professional bodies.
(b) Evidence of affiliation to a professional body will be an added advantage.
10. Must show evidence of developing fundable proposals and attracting funding.
