Job Description
The Field Service Engineer for the Materials andStructuralAnalysisDivision(MSD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific performs on-site installation alignment and repair of sophisticated equipment and systems. Engineers validate operational quality of system equipment; advise customers in the operation and maintenance of the system; serve as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects; and conduct on-site installations of analytical instruments serving the electronics research and manufacturing industries.
The Field Service Engineer will join a diverse team with skills ranging from sophisticated computer networks precision mechanics high voltage electronics vacuum theory particle beams optics and chemistry.

Territory & Travel:
The ideal candidate will be located in the Raleigh/Durham area the primary territory and will support customers across North Carolina and the Southeast requiring up to 75% travel.
What you will do:
- Conduct on-site installations across the region
- Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits per commitments and schedule
- Provide troubleshooting and repair support for customers and other field service personnel
- Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with users and colleagues
- Complete technical training as required
- Travel often on short notice to customer sites to resolve problems
- Advise external customers manufacturing and internal customers thru effective communication
- Partner with colleagues as mentee and mentor to continue personal and team development
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for Service documentation and product factories
- Collaborate with application scientists technical support engineers and customers to resolve complex customer challenges
Minimum Qualifications:
- University Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of technical education and experience on sophisticated systems or equivalent military experience
- 5 years experience using SEM TEM FIB Circuit Analysis or similar systems
- Ability to partner effectively with customers
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; must have a professional working proficiency in English
- High level of proficiency on Windows software network knowledge current computer hardware
- Must have ability to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required
- Must possess a valid drivers license
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to secure entrance to US Government laboratories and facilities if required
