Job Summary
The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) supports enterprise database environments and applications built on Microsoft SQL Server platforms. This role is responsible for database design performance optimization security high availability disaster recovery and proactive system monitoring to ensure uninterrupted operations across critical business systems.
The DBA works closely with engineering IT and security teams to maintain reliable secure and high-performing database services in high-availability environments.
Key Responsibilities

Install configure upgrade and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.

Perform database migrations across SQL Server versions.

Monitor database performance availability and security.
-
Optimize queries indexes stored procedures and database structures.
-
Implement and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

Apply database patches security updates and system enhancements.
-
Manage backups restores and recovery processes.
-
Configure alerts job scheduling and proactive monitoring.
-
Troubleshoot permissions authentication networking and infrastructure-related issues.
-
Maintain database objects including jobs SSIS packages views and functions.
-
Enforce audit compliance and security standards.
-
Support maintenance windows emergency response and after-hours deployments.
-
Collaborate with IT teams to resolve issues end-to-end.
-
Document database architecture procedures and operational processes.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelors degree with at least 2 years of RDBMS experience or
-
Associate degree with at least 4 years of RDBMS experience or
-
57 years of professional IT and database administration experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience
-
Strong expertise in SQL Server administration tuning and optimization.
-
Experience with high availability technologies such as clustering and availability groups.
-
Knowledge of enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
-
Familiarity with database monitoring platforms.
-
Experience supporting regulated or mission-critical environments.
-
Utility or infrastructure industry experience is a plus.
