The Opportunity:
UCF IT Telecommunications seeks candidates for a Network Engineer IV. The Network Engineer IV role is an integral part of the Network Services team within the Telecommunication Network Service division. This position centers on the implementation and management of network design. Its key objective is to support the varied needs of both internal and external customers while ensuring the ongoing operation of the network environment.
Close collaboration is essential and the Network Engineer IV will work closely with the Infrastructureteam architects and a dedicated team of network engineers. Together they maintain a robust and secure network infrastructure that serves the needs of UCFs campus community.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and implement network hardware and software solutions to enhance performance and reliability. Optimize the network for fast reliable data access and transfers.
Responsible for implementation and optimization of Network LAN WAN and Data Center designs. Reviews architectural plans and designs along with configuration and integration support. Also provides operational support for complex network deployments and assists the technical operational team throughout all disciplines of Network Services.
Assist in creating knowledge base articles to document solutions processes and procedures.
Provide client education on how to use equipment software and university systems.
Work with vendor escalation services process vendor support tickets for UCF IT and communicate effectively with UCF IT Infrastructure management and clients.
Meet assigned Objectives & Key Results (OKR) and service level target metrics on an annual basis to ensure high level of service delivery.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures within UCF IT and the Infrastructure department to perform: Change Management Request Management Incident Management and Problem Management functions within ServiceNow.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree. Oran equivalent combination of education and experiencepursuant toFla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience implementing general network designs and best practices in both Cisco and/or Extreme Networks environments.
Excellent understanding of the network topology and troubleshooting of network and hardware related problems.
Demonstrated hands-on product and technology skills in at least two of the following areas: Network Monitoring / Switches / Routers / Network Design / Secure Access / Software Defined Networking / Identity Services Engine / Wireless / Local Area Networking / Wide Area Networking / Cloud / Analytics / Telemetry / Routing Protocols / Operating Systems & Database Security.
Software knowledge: IPAM ServiceNow Secure CRT Teams (Visio) Lucid Charts Reporting and Syslog.
Certifications: CCNA CCNP ENA Network / Security .

Position requires a valid drivers license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
This role supports work within secure and regulated environments and involves Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) related background screening and access protocols.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $89076 - $125000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidates qualifications experience and internal equity considerations.
