Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Supervisor Nursing and Patient Care services to join our medical surgical team! This is a full time second shift role in Suffolk VA.
Hours/Days: 5PM to 3AM Monday to Thursday on Week 1 5PM to 3AM Tuesday to Friday Week 2.

The Medical-Surgical Unit at Sentara Obici Hospital is a great place to learn and grow supported by a longstanding leadership team and strong preceptors dedicated to mentoring new nurses. With a 21-bed capacity an RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5 or 6 and PCTs assisting with an average of 10 or 11 patients the unit offers a collaborative supportive environment ideal for both new graduates and experienced nurses seeking to enhance their skillset.
1 East Surgery Unit is a 24-bed unit specializing in orthopedics spine and bariatrics designed to provide high-quality short-stay care. The team also sees high acuity surgical patients from Endoscopy General surgery and GI. Average patient stay is 1 to 2 days. The RN staff can expect a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio and can expect an average of 6 to 8 patient discharges per shift. It is a well-staffed fast-paced environment that values ongoing staff development through a comprehensive orientation program where managers and educators meet biweekly to refine learning strategies and enhance clinical skills.

The Supervisor Nursing and Patient Care Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the healthcare facility during their shift ensuring high-quality patient care safety and staff efficiency. This position serves as the primary liaison between departments providing leadership direction and support to nursing staff physicians and other healthcare providers. The Supervisor is also tasked with coordinating patient flow managing staffing levels responding to emergencies and addressing any operational issues that may arise throughout their shift.
Education
Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (required) Or
MSN (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure
Registered nursing License (Required)
BLS required within 90 days of hire
Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
Experience
1 year of previous management experience OR 2 years experience in a support leadership RN position (Required)
3 years of nursing experience (Required)
5 years of nursing experience preferred
Medical Surgical or Oncology background preferred
Staff development and retention
Quality outcomes and patient experience
