Purpose of the role:

As a Senior Test Engineer you will be supporting the development of world-leading solid oxide technology aimed at enabling the global transition to clean affordable this role you will be responsible for executing test plans for verification validation and development testing of Ceres solid oxide technologies. You will prepare and commission test stands and platforms install test pieces and develop processes to ensure the production of auditable data.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and analysing test data producing detailed test reports and presenting findings and recommendations. You will lead fault-finding and issue investigations contribute to improvement projects and create work instructions standard operating procedures and risk assessments. The role also involves supporting test scheduling and planning collaborating with the Test Capability team on test stand design and development and working with the Test Strategy team to develop robust test plans. As a senior member of the team you will provide technical leadership to less experienced engineers and interface with internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure successful commissioning and delivery of new systems.

Knowledge and skills for the role:

  • Several years post-graduate industrial experience

  • BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng level in Mechanical Engineering Physics Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar

  • Ability to visualise and summarise data perform basic sense checking identify inconsistencies and carry out basic thermodynamic calculations (e.g. efficiency simple heat balances)

  • Ability to read and produce technical documents including mechanical drawings electrical schematics and P&IDs

  • Ability to plan and manage work packages

  • Ability to produce risk assessments and apply safety tools such as HAZID HAZOP and FMEA

  • Strong report writing skills and ability to communicate results and deliver presentations to colleagues and management

  • Quick to grasp new concepts and develop a good working knowledge of Ceres Power products and their operation

  • Delivery-focused and highly motivated capable of handling multiple priorities and working independently as well as part of a high-performing team
