Job Summary

Job Summary
We are seeking a Principal Engineer to take technical ownership of a mature Unity-based multiplayer game platform approaching public release.

The product has been in active development for several years is currently at version 4.0 and includes a robust runtime architecture live multiplayer systems and an integrated level editor.

This role reports directly to the CEO and operates with significant autonomy over technical direction. We offer competitive compensation meaningful equity participation and full benefits.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with technical leadership scope not a people-management position.

Responsibilities
Technical Ownership and amp; Architecture

Assume ownership of the games core technical architecture including:
Realtime multiplayer systems
Runtime scripting and extensibility
Dynamic asset loading and content pipelines
API Server and database for contents configurations and game data storage
Evaluate and execute tactical refactors to improve scalability performance and maintainability.
Serve as the primary technical authority for architecture-level decisions.

Hands-On Engineering

Contribute directly to critical systems in Unity (C#).
Review refactor and evolve existing systems where necessary.
Set and maintain high standards for code quality performance and reliability.

Technical Leadership and amp; Team Guidance

Provide technical direction to a team of contract engineers.
(Occasionally) Lead design discussions architecture reviews and code reviews.
Act as a force multiplier by unblocking engineers and improving execution velocity.
Collaborate with leadership on long-term technical strategy while owning short- and medium-term execution.
General Qualifications

Extensive professional experience in software engineering including senior or principal-level roles.
Proven ability to work effectively in large existing codebases and evolve them responsibly.
Experience leading technical direction without formal people-management responsibilities.

Technical Qualifications

10 Years in Unity3d with C#
5 Years with NodeJS and amp; Mongo for API extensibility
Experience Realtime multiplayer networking including base UDP packet construction
Fishnet Networking deployment scalability and lobby management
Websockets for near real time in-game event processing
Unity3d AssetBundle construction and runtime loading
Asana or Jira Experience for ticket tracking
A gamer centric mindset the more games you play/played the better!
