HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The HOMES Program provides supportive housing to persons who have been homeless and are living with a mental illness. Team Members support tenant to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community. An opportunity exists to join our team as a Cleaner.
- Work to make a difference in the lives of tenants at various apartment buildings in the Hamilton community
- Provide hands-on assistance to tenants with independent living skills specifically cleaning laundry organization and pest-control preparations
- Be aware of and sensitive to the issues related to poverty homelessness mental illness addictions and developmental disabilities
- Work collaboratively with tenants in their home with a range of functions such as cleaning and other associated tasks that support our tenants
- Enhance the dignity and quality of life of our tenants through the assumed responsibility for cleaning services
- Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
WHAT YOULL BRING TO OUR TEAM
- One year cleaning experience in a residential facility (preferred)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are a necessity
- The ability to work independently take initiative and think creatively
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently in client homes ad community settings
- Certification in CPR or a willingness to be certified is also required
- Experience working with the homeless population would be an asset
- Committed to an anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
- Fluent in English; second language is considered a strong asset
