The Alaska Department of Fish and Games Hunter Information & Training (HIT) Program seeks a dynamic and experienced educator to design deliver and coordinate public outreach and education programs. Duties include:

The HIT Program is a statewide program responsible for delivering firearms education certification courses (hunter bowhunter muzzleloader and crossbow education) as well as workshops clinics and camps designed to recruit hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts. The HIT Program with the assistance of over 500 volunteer instructors offers quality training and education throughout Alaska.

The Education Associate 3 is part of the HIT Programs statewide team of eight staff and over 500 volunteer instructors engaged in educating the public and recruiting new hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts. As part of this team the position will work with an array of dedicated volunteer instructors school administrators and teachers and the general public (all ages) to promote safe and enjoyable hunting and shooting experiences.

The working conditions you can expect:

The Education Associate 3 position is based in the Anchorage ADF&G regional office and will also spend a fair amount of time at the Rabbit Creek Shooting Park. This position will also travel to schools around the state to train school staff in offering the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).

Must be able to legally carry and effectively use firearms.

First Aid/CPR. For those not already certified training will be provided by the department at no cost to the employee.

(1) Graduation from an accredited college preferably in administration and/or education. AND One year of experience as an Education Associate 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

OR

(2) Six years of experience in the broad field of education counseling or administrative services two years of which were at the technical/paraprofessional.

OR

(3) Any combination of the above.

Substitution: In option 2 graduate study may be substituted for the required specialized experience on a year-for-year basis. Undergraduate study preferably in administration and/or education may also substitute for the generalized experience in option 2 on a year-for-year basis.
