Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inspection & Verification:Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of parts materials and assemblies to ensure compliance with drawings specifications and manufacturing routers.
- Measurement Tools:Utilize precision tools such as calipers micrometers height gauges and microscopes to verify critical dimensions.
- Documentation:Accurately complete inspection records checklists and reports ensuring all documentation is complete and complies with AS9100 or FAA standards.
- Non-Conformance:Identify document and segregate discrepant or defective material (non-conformances) and report them to quality management.
- Collaboration:Communicate findings effectively with production personnel and engineers to resolve quality issues.
Required Skills:
- Education:High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is typically required; technical school or Associates degree is often preferred.
- Technical Skills:Ability to read and interpret technical drawings blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Attention to Detail:Exceptional observational skills to identify small defects burrs or scratches.
- Quality Standards:Basic understanding of quality control processes and if possible knowledge of or ability to learn aerospace standards (AS9100 ISO 9001 or FAA).
- Computer Literacy:Basic proficiency with computer systems for documentation.
Required Experience and Education
- Some experience in a manufacturing or production environment (aerospace or military preferred).
- Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation.
- Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Typical Tools Used
- Handheld precision tools (Calipers Micrometers Gauges).
