Our Industrial & Energy Technology (IET) team provides industry-leading products and services thatoptimizethe extractionproductionand processing of energy. We help a diverse range of customers across the value chain to reduce operating costs and improve productivity. Our teamis part of the Quality Assurance (QA) of the manufacturing for Florence and Massa and is responsible of the KPI monitoring and definition of the continuous improvement roadmap.

The Application Engineer is based in Florence and will:

  • Analyze client needs: definition and optimization of the products; scope (description); schedule; industrial scheme; cost considering contract and internal policies and procedures.
  • Calculate plant system and equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Provide documentation of technical specifications & costing elements for further contract execution phases.
  • Develop new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organization.
  • Work together with business leadership. Specifying needs communicating about project approach and presenting outcomes of research done.
  • Deliver products as part of a team. Works on cross functional teams. Alternatively: Leads analytical and design activities using proven technologies and vested approaches and methods.
  • Hand over the technical contract to execution team in case of award.
  • Prepare within the required timeline the most attractive technical proposal at first submission (i.e. including but not limited to the selection of rotating equipment and its auxiliary systems) using ITO tools and following ITO policies and procedures implementing where appropriate innovative technology (NPD) while interfacing with the commercial team.
  • Apply product and quality policies addressing and mitigating any risks as per Baker Hughes procedures.
  • Lead the technical negotiation coordinating with supporting functions and attending meetings/presentations with customer.
  • Lead the definition of the project technical strategy influencing customers towards Baker Hughes solutions by properly accounting for competitors technical strengths and weaknesses versus Baker Hughes offering/capabilities.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Possess a degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering
  • Have a preferred experience with large machines such as generators with oil&gas application.
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Have strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Possess the ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Be able to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
  • Can coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Have effective problem identification and solution skills.
  • Possess proven analytical and organizational ability.
  • Be Fluent in English (written and spoken) with good communication and presentation skills.
  • Be willing to work on stretched deadlines with flexible time management and available to travel on short notice.
  • Possess a deep understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies.
