About the opportunity
The IT Accessibility and Assistive Technology Specialist will play a pivotal role over a 12-month period in ensuring the Universitys digital environments platforms and services are inclusive and accessible to all users particularly students and staff with disabilities. This role provides expert advice and implementation support for assistive technologies and accessible IT solutions across the University.
Operating within the IT Service Delivery & Support team the role collaborates with stakeholders across academic professional and student support areas to embed accessibility into IT systems infrastructure and service design. It supports the Universitys commitment to inclusive education universal design and compliance with accessibility standards and legislation.
What youll do:
- Deliver accessible documentation and resources to support staff and students in the effective use of accessibility products and features across University IT platforms.
- Create and implement internal training materials and support resources to build IT staff capability in assisting users requiring accessibility tools and features ensuring these resources are ready for ongoing use.
- Act as a technical liaison between IT Services and academic/professional staff to implement identified accessibility solutions.
- Translate strategic accessibility guidance from the Digital Accessibility and Assistive Technology Adviser into practical IT solutions and document processes for future continuity.
- Provide specialist advice and advocate for accessibility of the universities web-based materials.
What were looking for:
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation training materials and user guides.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and guidelines and their application in IT systems and service delivery.
- Ability to troubleshoot and support assistive technology tools across various operating systems and devices.
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in the assistive technology field.
- Contribute to digital innovation initiatives including chatbot development or AI-enhanced support tools.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116872 comprising base salary within the range of $92120 to $99891 plus 17% superannuation.
