DescriptionPharmacy Tech levels 1 - 5:
Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Accurately and efficiently processes prescriptions. Interacts with patients and managed care plans to authorize prescription coverage. Assembles prescriptions and follows proper procedures to prepare and dispense medications. Accurately and efficiently completes patient purchase transactions utilizing point of sale systems. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations.

QualificationsNote: These qualifications apply to the Pharmacy Tech level 1 which are the minimum qualifications that must be met for all levels.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Additional Qualifications
- Prior experience as an outpatient pharmacy technician preferred.
- Able to learn technical tasks including software computer applications and keyboarding. Able to follow written and verbal directions. Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system. Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment. Performs without assistance; recognized as a resource to others; able to translate complex nuances to others; able to improve processes; focus on broad issues.
- No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.
License or Certification
- Current registration with the WI Board of Pharmacy or eligible for registration.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB preferred) required within 12 months of start date.
