Job Summary

Maintenance Technician
Reports to:Principal
FLSA:Hourly Non-Exempt
Full time:40 hours per week
General Summary:
TheMaintenance Technicianwill be assigned to provide oversight of the general upkeep buildingmaintenance and custodialdutiesfor all buildings or projects of St. Matthew Catholic School to ensure facilities are always safe clean and functional. TheMaintenance Technicianwill be responsible for inspecting and performing regularmaintenanceon HVAC systems paint touch-ups and spot-cleaning facility grounds as well as general repairs such as door hardware replacement or repair. Additionally this role is responsible for routinemaintenanceand emergency repairs to prevent and resolve safety or comfort issues. TheMaintenance Technicianalso performs cleaning facility setup moving of equipment and miscellaneous simple grounds and beautification for the school. Cleaningdutiesinclude vacuuming and mopping floors cleaning bathrooms washing windows and trash removal. This position requires knowledge and experience working with industrial-strength cleaning chemicals.
EssentialDutiesand Responsibilities:
  • Provide facilitiesmaintenanceincluding (but not limited to) building mechanical electrical plumbing and stormwater.
  • Confer with contractors vendors and staff to resolvemaintenanceproblems.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Principal.
  • Coordinate regular preventativemaintenanceprograms.
  • Regularly monitor all areas of the buildings and grounds and evaluate operational risks completemaintenancechecklists and follow all safety rules and regulations. Bring safety concerns to the attention of the Principal in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting allworkcompleted by outside vendors.
  • Address plumbing issues such as leaks clogs or other drainage problems; change out faucets and other minor plumbing issues.
  • Inspect and perform regularmaintenanceon HVAC systems including regularly changing filters.
  • Address electrical issues within skill level or seek permission from the Principal to contract an outside vendor.
  • Complete basic carpentry repairs around the building.
  • Install new equipment and oversee building upgrades as assigned by the Principal.
  • Perform cleaningdutiesincluding vacuuming and mopping floors cleaning bathrooms washing windows and trash removal.
  • Perform facility setup and moving of equipment as needed for school events.
  • Conduct general grounds beautification andmaintenance.
  • Ensure proper handling and usage of industrial-strength cleaning chemicals.
  • Perform other relateddutiesas assigned by the Principal.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience inmaintenance property or facilities operations vendor or contractor management.
  • Experience with general repairs buildingmaintenance carpentry painting HVAC electrical and plumbing.
  • Ability to provide support through consultation and oversight to staff onmaintenanceand repair projects.
  • Great attention to detail and workmanship to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or visitors to the building in a pleasant manner and be ever cognizant of the security and safety of others especially in activeworkzones and projects.
  • The ability to respect promote accommodate and not conflict with the mission moral and social teachings doctrines and laws of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Must consistently demonstrate a positive friendly respectful and caring attitude with colleagues the public and all one serves in word and deed projecting a welcoming atmosphere to all who visit the facilities.

COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively presentinformationand respond to questions from groups of leadership vendors employees and the general public.
  • Must have average computer skills including aptitude with Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate ratio and percentage.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
