- Key responsibilities: Triage and stabilize acutely ill and injured patients; perform rapid assessments; initiate and monitor IVs medications and life-support interventions; maintain continuous patient surveillance with telemetry when indicated; administer appropriate analgesia and sedation per protocol; coordinate with physicians residents respiratory therapists and ancillary staff; document nursing assessments and interventions accurately; ensure patient safety infection control and high standards of care; participate in handoffs and shift-to-shift communication; contribute to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice; seek opportunities for cross-training within the ER to broaden clinical versatility.
