About the organisation

He Waka Tapu is a Kaupapa Māori organisation that works to increase the health and wellbeing of Whānau.

The AOD Residential team support whaiora who want to reduce harm and stop the cycle of substance abuse in the supported accommodation whare.

About the role

We require active people who can engage and tautoko whānau in our AOD residential treatment programme who will walk alongside whānau in support of their session plans and follow tasks as directed. The roles are part time shifts alternating on a day/night roster covering a fortnightly period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Medication dispensing and health plan support
  • Cleaning duties and meal preparation alongside the whaiora
  • Adherence to shift tasks and activities
  • Active participation in community events
  • Able to role model good personal health and wellbeing
  • Working with the whaiora to encourage changes and healthy choices

Key skills and Experience

  • Experience within a Kaupapa Māori environment or cultural environment preferred
  • Experience and understanding of addiction and mental health would be helpful
  • MH level 3 or similar preferred but not a requirement
  • Full and clean drivers license
