Provides health education directly to the community at large primarily through planned programs fairs and screening events. Functions as a team member to advance Carilion Clinics goals through health education skills and by serving as a resource on community health education issues.
Plans and implements evidence-based health education programs and practices to influence health behavior change among underserved audiences.
Produces quality health communications including content for social media printable materials and talking points in collaboration with team members.
Coordinates policy systems and environmental change projects with community partners to support community health and wellbeing.
Completes data collection and reporting on health education initiatives according to established processes.
Collaborates with other Carilion Clinic departments providers and hospitals and community service organizations to promote health education interventions and align initiatives that improve the health of communities in response to results of Community Health Needs Assessments.
Enhances personal and team development related to health education programs and practices. Works to continuously improve and stays current on community health education issues and interventions.
Consistently deliver the best in customer service and patient care. As a team member demonstrate respect dignity kindness and empathy in each encounter with patients families visitors and other employees.

Education: Bachelors Degree in community health education public health education health and physical education or nursing or 8 years of experience required. Masters Degree preferred.
Experience: Three years of professional experience required. Prefer demonstration of public health education background and skills.
Licensure/certification: AHA BLS-HCP required. Eligible to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam within the first year of employment preferred. Virginia Drivers License required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to educate clients of any age or SES level on community health education. Well-organized proficient at multi-tasking and working with minimal direction. Must possess excellent organizational skills and proficiency in written and verbal communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications highly desirable. Job often requires working outside Carilion Clinic facilities and travel to sites within the Clinics service area. Must provide own transportation.
