We understand the practical challenges that Indigenous governments organizations and peoples face when engaging with Canadian law - whether in the courts in the boardroom or at the negotiating table. We develop legal strategies collaboratively with our clients with Indigenous self-determination at the foundation of everything we do.
THE ROLE
The Marketing Manager at OKT is a senior hands-on role responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of the firms marketing function. This position spans communications design strategy and events (both internal and client-facing) and plays a central role in advancing OKTs brand profile and business development objectives.
Working closely with the Marketing and Production Assistant the Marketing Manager leads the firms marketing initiatives from concept through execution while managing budgets stakeholders and multiple priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Brand Development
- Develop and implement the firms annual marketing and brand strategy.
- Design and execute initiatives that highlight the expertise of OKT lawyers including:
- Event series
- Podcast programming
- Webinar series
- Ensure consistency and quality across all marketing materials and communications.
Communications & Content
- Manage the firms social media presence and campaigns.
- Oversee submissions to legal publications directories and rankings.
- Support lawyers in the development and production of RFPs and proposals.
- Produce and edit high-quality public-facing content across formats and audiences (downloadable resources podcasts video etc.).
- Support the firms management team with internal communication initiatives.
Events Sponsorships & Engagement
- Plan and execute internal and client-facing events.
- Review approve and coordinate all marketing elements related to firm sponsorships.
- Support internal initiatives including OKTs internal social activities and committee-led projects (recruitment and EDI)
Budget & Operations
- Manage marketing-related budgets including Marketing Internal Social Initiatives Sponsorships/Donations and the Recruitment Committee budgets.
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Train support and manage a junior marketing team.
- Work collaboratively with lawyers leadership and external stakeholders.
- Bring creativity innovation and new ideas to a grassroots marketing environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- 57 years of experience in a marketing management role preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
- Broad experience across legal marketing including communications events branding and digital marketing.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and complex deliverables.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills and the ability to work effectively with non-communications professionals.
- Experience planning and executing corporate and client events.
- Familiarity with RFPs legal rankings and submissions.
- Comfortable managing multiple budgets and full marketing portfolios.
- Proficiency with design and production tools including Canva and podcast platforms (e.g. Riverside Buzzsprout).
- Ability and willingness to:
- Travel when required
- Work evenings for events
The ideal candidate is confident adaptable and solutions-oriented with a strong understanding of a grassroots approach to marketing. They bring an open mind thrive in a fast-paced environment and are able to deliver high-quality results with limited reliance on software. Due to the event-focused nature of this role it may occasionally require lifting items weighing up to 30 lbs. This position offers a competitive wage and includes benefits along with a health spending account from the first day. They are also entitled to four weeks vacation and a salary range between $100k-$115k - dependant on skillset and years of experience.
